Naoko Yagyu studied closely with B.K.S. Iyengar (Guruji) since 1980, making a yearly pilgrimage to Pune, India for his intensive courses. For thirty-four years she has brought this knowledge back to Japan and has been spreading the Iyengar Method by conveying the teachings of Guruji to her students. She has also been a leader in the Japanese Iyengar Community. She has translated several of B.K.S. Iyengar’s books into Japanese and has been instrumental in training young Japanese teachers in the Iyengar method.
She was awarded Senior Intermediate Level III by B.K.S. Iyengar in 2012.
